PSLF Planning
PSLF Tracker
PSLF requires 120 qualifying monthly payments while working full-time for a qualifying employer. Track your count, project your forgiveness date, and identify gaps before the Department of Education does.
This is a planning tool, not an official PSLF count. Always cross-check against your StudentAid.gov payment count and file Employment Certification Forms (PSLF Form) annually so the servicer's count and yours stay aligned.
Step 1
Your StudentAid.gov verified count
Pull this number from your StudentAid.gov PSLF dashboard. The tool uses the higher of this number and the count derived from your employment history below — so under-counting here is safe.
Step 2
Employment history
Add each W2 employer since you started repayment. Mark whether each qualifies (501(c)(3), government, military, etc.).

Qualifying employers, briefly
- Government: federal, state, local, tribal, military, VA, and Public Health Service employers all qualify.
- 501(c)(3) nonprofits: any tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Most non-profit hospitals qualify.
- Other nonprofits: certain non-profit organizations providing qualifying public services may qualify even without 501(c)(3) status. Verify with your servicer.
- Does NOT qualify: for-profit hospitals (HCA, Tenet, USAP-affiliated practices, most ambulatory surgery centers), 1099 contractor work for a non-profit (you must be a W2 employee of the qualifying employer), and partnerships where the employing entity is for-profit even if the parent is non-profit.
Use the Department of Education employer search tool to confirm an employer qualifies before you accept the position.
